Supervising Physician (SP)
 
Position Overview:
The Supervising Physician (SP) is responsible for overseeing and guiding the medical care provided by mid-level healthcare providers, such as Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). The SP ensures that clinical services are delivered according to established medical protocols and guidelines, maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
 
Supervisory Physician Duties:

1.      Be available for face-to-face or telephone consultation, collaboration, and necessary referrals during office hours.

2.      Meet monthly with the owner and clinic administrator face-to-face at the clinic.

3.      Meet periodically to discuss clinical issues and protocols set by the professional licensing association.

4.      Discuss clinical problems, audit at least 10 percent of patient charts monthly, and discuss the treatment plan to improve patient management.

5.      Documentation and minutes of the meetings will be maintained. Both the physician and APRN/PA will sign them.

6.      Complete Performance Evaluations annually for all APRN/PAs supervised.

7.      Maintain documentation of Supervisory responsibilities as required by the Texas Medical Board and for Compliance purposes. 

8.      The physician is to utilize his or her independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients in a manner consistent with the policies and procedures of the Professional Association and in accordance with applicable law.

9.      Physician shall, in accordance with policies developed by or on behalf of Professional Association, timely prepare all medical records with respect to patients treated by Physician. All medical records generated in service of patients treated by Physician or any other physician employed by Professional Association shall be and remain the property of Professional Association, as appropriate, and shall be maintained at the clinic. 
 
Qualifications:
·      Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from accredited medical school.
·      Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
·      Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a clinical setting.
·      Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·      Prior experience working with mid-level providers.
·      Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.

Compensation: $1,200.00 - $1,500.00 per month
