- Prepare the clinic for opening each day by reviewing the facility, launching system applications, and preparing patient registration materials.
- Greet patients, distribute intake paperwork, and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards.
- Register patients, update records, verify insurance coverage accurately, and complete check-out procedures.
- Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
- Address billing questions and assist with payment collection.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond promptly to patient needs.
- Assist with follow-up appointments and medical documentation requests.
- Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports.
- Complete closing procedures and submit required reports.
- Follow cash control procedures and secure financial assets.
- Obtain patient vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit.
- Prepare patients for examination by the provider.
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
- Perform ordered tests accurately and in a timely manner.
- Administer medications and treatments according to approved protocols.
- Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for in-house or reference laboratory processing.
- Conduct laboratory testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
- Respond to lab messages and patient callback requests.
- Perform drug screening procedures according to established regulations.
- Document and administer immunizations as directed.
- Coordinate referrals and obtain service pre-authorizations when needed.
- Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain complete and accurate medical documentation.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant Certification IS A MUST!
- Previous medical clerical or urgent care experience preferred
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, EMR systems)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
